How to use a compass a handy guide to download!

How to use the compass to set the map and a bearing to go down the correct path or across open countryside

On the one and two day courses everyone learns how to use the compass to perform a simple 1-2-3 so the compass magically turns them down the correct path

Even though everyone gets loads of practice in using the compass one my frequent requests is for a crib sheet that provides a few prompts. I have made a couple of PDF’s that you can download below that show you how to: - Set the map to north APN - How to use the compass to point you down the correct path - 1-2-3 - How to use the compass to go across more open countryside - A to B

I will also be putting up a crib sheet for relocation skills in the next month or so.

Download the files from below - links should directly download or open the PDF’s in your browser.

If your map and compass skills are still at bit rusty look out for a new refresher course and a compass master class in 2018 - exclusive courses for those that have already completed any two day map courses with New Forest Navigation. Let me know if you are interested in these courses…
