Follow the instructions from this useful website!
I have been using a Spot Messenger this last year both as a tracking device and a satellite emergency device. The tracking interval was poor but recently the packages have changed and you can now set the ‘beacon’ interval for 5 minutes which gives a much smoother track. I wanted to start displaying these and also be able to send a link to them to course participants so they could share with family or on overnight trips they could see where they were and all was OK.
Free and simple services to get things going
I am using a free service called Spotwalla to share and save tracks from my spot messenger - firstly use the super clear instructions from this website Motophil to set up a free Spotwalla account and how to then use the links from it to use on your own website.
I’m using Rapidweaver for my website so I just use an iFrame to show the map and paste in the URL off the ‘trip’ into it - This can be viewed on the News page right above the footer for now - scroll down to have a look….
I’m happy with the last position window and can see track displaying on the map. I just need to tweak the display a bit so the map view is zoomed in more rather than it showing such a large area initially.
